Vaileal TZ058 (2-pack) review
Two water alarms at 135 dB, which Vaileal states can be laid on the floor or hung on a wall, with no wiring, no buttons and no programming — the lid opens, the battery goes in, and it works.
The conclusion Two units and 135 dB, against 85 dB for the ABUS. The obvious buy if the sound must travel.
This one is the loudest in this hub, and comes in pairs.
Why volume matters more here than on an alarm
A leak detector’s job is to be heard from wherever you actually are, which is
usually not the utility room. Through a closed door, down a hallway, up from a
cellar, an 85 dB unit is a faint chirp and a 135 dB one is unmissable.
At one meter in a bathroom the same figure is painful, which is the honest
trade. Decide by where the sound has to travel, not by the number.
Wall or floor
Floor is the default: the probes touch the water as soon as it arrives. Vaileal also states wall mounting, without saying how the probes then reach the floor; check the manual before choosing it.
Battery and alarm
A 9 V battery, with up to three years of standby stated — the listing also mentions “one year” of protection, which calls for caution. At the slightest contact with water, the 135 dB alarm sounds until the probes dry or the battery runs flat; replace the battery when the alarm gets quieter.
What it does not do
Tell you when you are out. It is a local alarm like almost everything in this
hub, and an empty house hears nothing. That is the argument for the connected
detector at the top of this hub, and against it is that this pair costs a
third as much.
Who it suits
Two locations, and a household that has already failed to hear a quieter one.

The questions we are asked
Is 135 dB excessive?
At one meter in a bathroom, yes — it is genuinely painful. Through a closed utility room door, down a hallway, from a cellar, it is what makes the difference between an alarm that is heard and one that is not. Consider where the sound has to travel before deciding it is too much.
What is wall mounting for?
Vaileal states it can be hung on a wall to detect leaks, without saying how the probes then reach the floor. Check the manual before relying on that mounting; on the floor, the probes touch the water as soon as it arrives.
Two — where should they go?
The two places water most often appears in your particular house. For most that is the washing machine and the water heater; for a house with a basement, the cellar floor is one of them.

85 dB · two floor probes · stands on the floor · basement, laundry, kitchen, utility room
A standalone water alarm that stands on the floor with two probes underneath. ABUS states an 85 dB tone that sounds as long as the probes are in contact with water or another conductive liquid.
Best for: The floor beside a washing machine, a dishwasher or a water heater.
90 dB · three units · two electrodes on the base · wall or floor · ABS
Three water alarms at 90 dB with two electrodes on the base, which GOMETY states trigger immediately on contact with water. Wall or floor mounting, in ABS plastic, with no wiring or programming.
Best for: Covering three risks at once — the usual number in a house with a basement.
A miniature floor sensor with a sealed lithium battery that SEBSON states lasts ten years. No battery to change, and no battery compartment to corrode.
Best for: A place you will not revisit — under a bath, behind a built-in appliance, beside a boxed-in water heater.
