Balter ENTRI M review

The surface-mounted version of the ENTRI set, supplied with two 7-inch monitors. Same 150° Full HD camera, same IP54 and IK07 ratings, same tamper alarm — and no recess to cut.

The conclusion The version most houses should actually buy. Same specification, no masonry, and the second monitor included.

This is the ENTRI set for a house that already exists. Everything about it matches the flush version except the one thing that decides whether the installation is an afternoon or two weeks: the outdoor station fixes to the face of the wall rather than into it.

Why that is the right default

Cutting a recess into an existing masonry wall, making it good, and weathering it properly costs more than the difference between the two sets, and it is not work most people want at their front door. Surface mounting leaves a visible edge and loses a little resistance to levering — which is precisely why the IK07 rating and the tamper alarm matter more on this model than on the flush one.

Two monitors, and why they are in the box

A single panel in a hall is not answered from a bedroom. This set supplies two, which covers a normal two-story house and costs less than buying a second panel afterwards.

The rating to respect

IP54: dust and splashing water. Under a porch or an overhang, fine. On a wall that takes driving rain, this station wants shelter — and an intercom that is sheltered also lasts far longer, whatever it is rated for.

Who it suits

An existing two-story house wanting a proper wired system without opening a wall.

What reassures, and what does not

Strengths

  • Surface mounting — no masonry work at the entrance
  • Two monitors supplied, covering both floors
  • IK07 impact rating and tamper alarm, as on the flush model
  • Same app and 150° Full HD camera

Compromises

  • The most expensive set in this hub apart from the four-family system
  • A surface unit leaves an edge, which is what a lever needs
  • Full HD rather than 2K
  • IP54, so it wants shelter

The questions we are asked

Flush or surface — which should I choose?

Surface, unless the wall is already open. Flush looks better and resists levering slightly better; cutting a recess into an existing wall is masonry work that costs more than the difference between the two sets. Balter sells both precisely because the answer depends on the wall, not on the product.

Why two monitors rather than one?

Because an intercom answered only from the hall is an intercom you run downstairs for. On two floors the second panel is what makes the system used rather than tolerated, and the pair costs less than adding one later.

Does the tamper alarm need the system to be armed?

It is a function of the outdoor station reporting interference to the system. It is not a burglar alarm and it does not summon anybody — it tells you the outdoor unit has been meddled with, which on a street-facing entrance is worth knowing.
