SEBSON WD_GS153 review
A miniature floor sensor with a sealed lithium battery that SEBSON states lasts ten years. No battery to change, and no battery compartment to corrode.
The conclusion The one to put where you will never look again. Write the date on it.
Most detectors in this hub have a battery you are supposed to change and almost certainly will not. This one does not have one you can reach. The Summit Digital GS153, sold as a three-pack, shares the same built-in ten-year lithium cell: it carries the same GS153 reference and the same 60 × 60 × 24.2 mm (2.36 × 2.36 × 0.95 in) dimensions.
Why sealed is right for this job
A battery compartment in a damp cellar or under a bath corrodes. A corroded
contact does not announce itself — the detector simply stops, and the owner
finds out when the floor is already wet. Sealing the cell removes the failure
mode entirely.
SEBSON states ten years. That is longer than most people keep the washing
machine it is guarding.
Where it goes
The places you cannot get to afterwards. Under a bath. Behind a built-in
appliance. Inside a boxed-in cylinder cupboard. Its miniature size is the
reason it fits there, and being unreachable is exactly why the sealed battery
matters.
The honest limitation
85 dB from under a bath is not heard from upstairs. This detector warns
whoever happens to be in the room. It belongs alongside a louder unit
somewhere audible rather than as the only one in the house.
One thing to do
Write the year on it with a marker before you put it in place. In eight years
nobody will remember when it went there, and a ten-year detector with no date
on it is a detector nobody replaces.
Who it suits
Every inaccessible spot in a house.

What reassures, and what does not
Strengths
Ten-year sealed lithium battery — nothing to change
Miniature, so it fits under a bath or behind a plinth
No battery compartment, so nothing corrodes in a damp place
Ten years is longer than most people keep the appliance it guards
Compromises
Sealed battery means the whole unit is disposable when it dies
85 dB from under a bath will not be heard from upstairs
No connectivity
A detector you never see is a detector you never test

The questions we are asked
Is a sealed battery a good idea?
In a damp place, yes. A battery compartment in a cellar or under a bath corrodes, and a corroded contact is a detector that has quietly stopped working. Sealed means it either works for ten years or it does not, with no slow failure in between, and SEBSON states a warning tone when the cell is nearly spent.
What happens after ten years?
You replace the unit. That is the cost of the design, and against a detector whose battery you were supposed to change annually and never did, it is arguably the better arrangement. Write the date on it with a marker.
Will I hear it under a bath?
Probably not from another floor. This unit is for places nobody goes — and the honest consequence is that it warns whoever is nearby rather than whoever owns the house. Pair it with a louder unit somewhere audible.

85 dB · two floor probes · stands on the floor · basement, laundry, kitchen, utility room
A standalone water alarm that stands on the floor with two probes underneath. ABUS states an 85 dB tone that sounds as long as the probes are in contact with water or another conductive liquid.
Best for: The floor beside a washing machine, a dishwasher or a water heater.
90 dB · three units · two electrodes on the base · wall or floor · ABS
Three water alarms at 90 dB with two electrodes on the base, which GOMETY states trigger immediately on contact with water. Wall or floor mounting, in ABS plastic, with no wiring or programming.
Best for: Covering three risks at once — the usual number in a house with a basement.
85 dB · three units · 60 × 60 × 24.2 mm (2.36 × 2.36 × 0.95 in) · 3 V lithium cell · rising-water detection
Three compact detectors with published dimensions and a 3 V lithium cell, which Summit Digital states detect ingress, rising water and flooding through two contact points on the underside.
Best for: A cellar or a basement where rising water rather than a burst hose is the risk.
