GOMETY XL002 (3-pack) review
Three water alarms at 90 dB with two electrodes on the base, which GOMETY states trigger immediately on contact with water. Wall or floor mounting, in ABS plastic, with no wiring or programming.
The conclusion Three units at the price of one, which is the right quantity. Test them with a wet finger once a year.
Leak detection fails because people buy one detector and there are three
places water can appear.
The three places
The washing machine. The dishwasher, or under the sink unit. And the hot water
cylinder, or the lowest point of a cellar floor. Almost every domestic water
escape starts at one of those, and a house with one detector has covered a
third of the problem.
Three in a box is the correct quantity, for less than the Summit Digital
three-pack in this hub.
The volume question
90 dB is fine in a kitchen and marginal through a closed utility room door. If
the unit is going somewhere enclosed, the louder pair in this hub is the
better tool. If it is going where you cook, this is plenty.
Testing, which nobody does
Draw a wet finger across both electrodes on the base. The alarm should sound
immediately. Do it when you fit them and once a year afterwards, because
nothing on this model tells you its battery has died — it simply stops
being a detector and goes on looking like one.
Who it suits
Any house doing the job properly, in one purchase.

The questions we are asked
Why three?
Because most houses have three places water appears: the washing machine, the dishwasher or sink unit, and the water heater or cellar. Covering all three at once is what makes leak detection actually work, and buying them singly is how people end up covering one.
Is 90 dB enough?
In the same room, easily. Through a closed utility door and up a flight of stairs, marginal. If the detector is going somewhere enclosed, the 135 dB pair in this hub is the better choice; if it is in a kitchen, 90 dB is fine.
How do I test them?
A wet finger across both electrodes. Do it when you fit them and once a year afterwards — it takes five seconds and it is the only way to know a battery has not quietly gone. Nothing on this model warns you.

85 dB · two floor probes · stands on the floor · basement, laundry, kitchen, utility room
A standalone water alarm that stands on the floor with two probes underneath. ABUS states an 85 dB tone that sounds as long as the probes are in contact with water or another conductive liquid.
Best for: The floor beside a washing machine, a dishwasher or a water heater.
A miniature floor sensor with a sealed lithium battery that SEBSON states lasts ten years. No battery to change, and no battery compartment to corrode.
Best for: A place you will not revisit — under a bath, behind a built-in appliance, beside a boxed-in water heater.
85 dB · three units · 60 × 60 × 24.2 mm (2.36 × 2.36 × 0.95 in) · 3 V lithium cell · rising-water detection
Three compact detectors with published dimensions and a 3 V lithium cell, which Summit Digital states detect ingress, rising water and flooding through two contact points on the underside.
Best for: A cellar or a basement where rising water rather than a burst hose is the risk.
