Reolink E1 Outdoor Pro review
Reolink states 4K with color night images, a genuine three-times optical zoom, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and auto-tracking across a 355° sweep, with custom detection zones and continuous recording.
The conclusion The camera to buy when the recording has to be usable as evidence rather than as reassurance. The optical zoom is the reason.
There is a point at which resolution stops being the answer and optics start.
A 4K sensor spread across a wide scene still gives you a small, soft face at
forty meters. Three times optical zoom, which moves glass rather than
enlarging pixels, gives you a face.
What the optical zoom is for
Two questions, specifically: which car, and which person. Both are asked at
distance, both are answered by gathering more light from a narrower angle,
and neither is answered by any amount of digital enlargement. If your camera
exists to produce something a third party could use, this is the feature that
decides whether it does.
Wi-Fi 6 on both bands
Reolink states dual-band Wi-Fi 6. On a 4K camera that is not a luxury: the
stream is large, and an intermittent link produces recordings with gaps in
them rather than a camera that visibly fails.
The two limits
Tilt is 50°, shallower than several cheaper cameras here, which matters if the
camera is mounted high and looking down close to the wall. And 4K continuous
recording consumes storage at a rate that turns weeks of retention into days
— plan for a recorder or a large high-endurance card.
Who it suits
A driveway, a gate or a yard where the footage has to answer a question rather
than confirm that something happened.

The questions we are asked
Why does optical zoom matter?
Because it is the only kind that adds detail. Optical zoom moves glass and gathers more light from a smaller part of the scene; digital zoom enlarges pixels that were already recorded. On a driveway where the question is which car, or at a gate where the question is which face, that distinction is the whole purchase.
Is 50° of tilt enough?
It is shallower than the cheaper cameras in this hub, which tilt 90° or more. Mounted high on a wall looking down at a path close to the building, that can matter. Mounted at normal height looking across a garden, it does not.
How much storage does 4K continuous recording need?
A great deal — 4K produces roughly twice the data of 2K for the same period. If you intend to record continuously at this resolution, plan on a network recorder or a large high-endurance card, and expect days of retention rather than weeks.
Our score

The buyer this one serves, among security devices
A property where a face or a license plate at distance actually has to be readable.
Amazon reports what buyers took in the month before this page was last checked: at least 50.
The figure is a floor, rounded by Amazon, and read through Keepa — it says what buyers picked, not what a maker claims.

A mains-powered dome camera with a bright floodlight, person tracking and continuous recording to a card. DEKCO states 2K, 350° of pan, an IP66 housing and two-way audio.
Best for: A driveway or yard where the camera should record continuously rather than in clips.
Two lenses in one housing — a wide one that keeps the whole scene and a telephoto one that follows a subject — combined into a single tracked image. Reolink states 4K full color day and night, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and storage to card, FTP or its own hub.
Best for: The one camera on a property that has to both watch everything and identify somebody.
2× 4 MP solar pan-tilt cameras · 10.1-inch monitor NVR, 10 channels · 8,000 mAh · Wi-Fi 6
Two 4 MP pan-tilt cameras that run on a battery and a solar panel, with a 10-channel recorder that has its own 10.1-inch screen. No cable runs to either camera.
Best for: A plot, outbuilding or gate where running power to a camera would cost more than the kit.
